Job Description

Time Appointments are delighted to be working on behalf of an International Freight Forwarding specialists based in Ipswich who are looking for an experienced Freight Forwarder to join their close-knit team.

 

The successful candidate will source, quote and secure new business from direct customers and Freight Forwarders to increase business turnover and profit, whilst maintaining Company standards.

 

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in freight forwarding or logistics coordination, with a focus on UK/EU road freight operations.
  • Strong understanding of UK/EU road freight regulations, customs procedures, and industry standards.
  • Excellent organisational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple shipments, prioritise workloads, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in document preparation, shipment tracking, and data management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence in liaising with both clients and suppliers.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse and resolve operational challenges, make well-informed decisions under pressure, and implement effective solutions.

 

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage the full end-to-end logistics process for UK/EU road freight shipments, including quoting, booking, and overseeing movements from collection through to delivery.
  • Prepare accurate and compliant shipping documentation, such as invoices, customs paperwork, and any additional required documents.
  • Support business development by identifying new clients and growth opportunities, while engaging with suppliers, negotiating rates, and building strong relationships to secure competitive pricing and reliable services.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, providing timely shipment updates, addressing enquiries and concerns, and ensuring a consistently high level of customer service.
  • Proactively identify and resolve issues that arise during transportation, working closely with internal teams, carriers, and clients to deliver prompt and effective solutions.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of all shipments, including transportation costs and relevant documentation, using internal systems and software.
