Time Appointments are recruiting on behalf of a leading transport business based in Felixstowe who are thrilled to be looking for a Traffic Operator to join their friendly team. Our client is looking for an experienced Traffic Operator to have the responsibility of the routing and planning of own vehicles.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

• Routing and planning of own vehicles and dedicated subcontracted haulage suppliers with consideration for delivery time, driving hour’s legislation and vehicle operating restrictions.
• Booking VBS slots in accordance with work requirements
• Inputting data on the in-house system to create job files
• Revenue rating customer jobs and cost rating haulage supplier’s work
• Printing delivery notes
• Spot sub-contracting work to other haulage suppliers
• Dealing with clients and contractors by phone, and email
• Liaison with customers to ascertain their requirements, booking of suitable transport, payment of charges and final delivery arrangements
• General office admin as deemed necessary by Line Manager
• On call for out of hours and weekends for own vehicles and suppliers.

Skills & Experience Required:

• Minimum of three years’ experience in the routing of containers
• Transport experience is a necessity
• The ability to be meticulous and consistent with close attention to detail
• Computer literate with previous knowledge of Destin8 and the port VBS system
• The ability to work under pressure is essential
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Flexible and adaptable with an excellent attitude to Customer Service
