Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Asphalt Supervisor to join our clients Operations Team in the Suffolk and Essex region. Our client is one of the UK’s largest surfacing contractors and are looking for a candidate to be part of the company’s success.

 

Role Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day site operations for surfacing projects.
  • Develop work plans, assist in creating project programmes, and place orders for necessary materials.
  • Communicating effectively daily with Crew / Foreman by carrying out daily briefings and through on-site presence.
  • Supervise operations to ensure that work is completed to the highest standards, adhering to contract specifications and minimising the need for remedial actions.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify and address any potential issues or hazards.
  • Complete daily reports and submit them at the end of each visit, including copies of dimensions, supply issues, and waiting times.
  • Place accurate and timely orders for materials and equipment to ensure efficient production while balancing costs against client value and compliance with standards.
  • Lead and motivate on-site teams, providing guidance and support to ensure optimal performance.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients and contractors.
  • Supervise and ensure all operatives fully comply and adhere with the company’s Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures.
  • Complete site-specific risk assessments to ensure that appropriate control measures are in place for safe work execution.

 

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience in a similar position within infrastructure, highways, or contracting sectors
  • Construction Management Qualification
  • SMSTS (minimum SSSTS)
  • A valid CSCS card
  • Experience in asphalts and road laying
  • Good communicator
  • Previous leadership experience
