    Hard work, an uncompromising attention to customer care and an element of luck have all contributed to the success story that is Time Appointments, according to managing director Craig Dade.

    The five-year old Ipswich-based recruitment consultancy is not only surviving but thriving too, in an industry decimated by recession. “We regularly work long days, take calls out of hours and we’ve even driven candidates to interviews. But we’ve been lucky to have a team of such loyal and enthusiastic staff. They’re here early in the morning, on the phone from dawn till dusk, and they keep coming back for more,” he said. Differentiation in a crowded market place was – and remains – essential to the business’ success. “From the outset we were clear about our offering. Our strap-line promised we would always exceed expectations. So no pressure there,” he laughs. “Our service is a cut above the rest but fairly priced. That seems to have stood us in good stead. “We decided initially to concentrate on permanent jobs, and only those offering career opportunities,” he added. “As times have changed and employers increasingly look for high calibre interim and temporary staff, we’ve adapted to those needs.” With just eight in the office, decisions are made quickly and service is bespoke. This flexibility and responsiveness has won Time Appointments a loyal following of household-name clients, spanning many different industries. Job candidates are equally impressed. Ambitious plans are afoot to relocate Time Appointments to larger town centre premises, although still in a discreet location (much appreciated by candidates!) Expansion across East Anglia and into London is also on the cards. “It’s all about raising the bar in professional recruitment. There’s plenty of scope out there for consultancies who are willing to go the extra mile,” says Craig.

  • Time Appointments expands to offer temporary recruitment

    Time Appointments, established four years ago to specialise in permanent recruitment, has responded to current conditions by setting up a temporary placements division.

    Craig Dade, managing director, said, “We’re very keen to meet all our clients’ requirements and their needs are evolving. When we opened in March 2006, circumstances were very different because back then, there were more jobs than applicants. Now clients are looking for different, more flexible, arrangements and temporary appointments, from interim management roles through to general office support are increasing in importance.”

    Time Appointments, which has a staff of seven, specialises in white collar jobs in insurance, sales, shipping, and administrative and executive roles.

    Mr Dade said, “A temporary appointment can actually be a very beneficial experience. It is often well-paid and can enable candidates to gain additional industry experience and boost their CV. Of course, quite often it will ultimately turn into an offer of permanent employment.”

    He reports that whilst there are still good permanent jobs on offer across a wide range of business sectors, temporary placements now account for almost 20% percent of new appointments.

    “From clients’ point of view, a temporary appointment doesn’t mean they want to compromise on quality. So our temporary appointments team maintains our high standards in continuing to vet all applicants thoroughly and carry out pre-interviews. That ensures that our clients are presented with candidates who meet their needs, whether that is for temporary or permanent posts,” he said.

    Time Appointments is based in Cromwell Court, Ipswich, and meets with candidates on an appointment basis only. The company has ambitious plans to expand across Norfolk and Essex in coming years.
