  • How Recruitment Consultants Can Help You Find Your Dream Job

Posted on Thursday 23rd June, 2011

Looking for a job is time consuming, and often demoralising when you do not hear back from any of your applications. To give you additional support during this period, you should seriously consider contacting a recruitment consultant. Here at Time Appointments, our recruitment consultants Felixstowe can offer an invaluable service specifically tailored to get you a job in the sector which you desire.
So how can a recruitment consultant help you find your dream job?

There are many valuable services which a consultant can provide to aid your search. Here we will explore two of these; contacts and personal development.

    Contacts

A recruitment consultant will have numerous contacts all looking to recruit. Businesses use recruitment agencies for various reasons; maybe they don’t want their competitors to know they are recruiting, or they could be losing staff in one department whilst recruiting in another. Recruitment agencies also offer companies a discreet service, and consultants often remove the long process involved in recruiting, by only selecting applicants which fit the brief.

Having these contacts available allows the recruitment consultant to quickly place you in a role, as they will already have job positions available to fill. It also means that if there are no current jobs in your chosen sector, they will be among the first people to hear of any new positions.

    Personal Development

To help our clients get their dream job, our recruitment consultants will often read through and adapt the applicant’s CV where necessary. Your CV is very important, as it is often the main source of information which  employers use when making their final decision, so it pays to get this right.

To support our clients, we also help with interview techniques and commonly asked questions. This is useful in building confidence, and will help applicants to remain calm and under control during the interview stage.

If you want to find your dream job, then contact our recruitment consultants Felixstowe. With our support and guidance you’ll be able to find the perfect job, in the perfect location, with the perfect salary in no time. Call us today on 01473 252 666.

His client driven background makes him the perfect candidate for this role as he has previously been responsible for maintaining client detail and always delivering a professional approach to his work.

  • Time Appointments enjoys fifth year of success

Posted on Wednesday 2nd March, 2011

Hard work, an uncompromising attention to customer care and an element of luck have all contributed to the success story that is Time Appointments, according to managing director Craig Dade.

The five-year old Ipswich-based recruitment consultancy is not only surviving but thriving too, in an industry decimated by recession. “We regularly work long days, take calls out of hours and we’ve even driven candidates to interviews. But we’ve been lucky to have a team of such loyal and enthusiastic staff. They’re here early in the morning, on the phone from dawn till dusk, and they keep coming back for more,” he said. Differentiation in a crowded market place was – and remains – essential to the business’ success. “From the outset we were clear about our offering. Our strap-line promised we would always exceed expectations. So no pressure there,” he laughs. “Our service is a cut above the rest but fairly priced. That seems to have stood us in good stead. “We decided initially to concentrate on permanent jobs, and only those offering career opportunities,” he added. “As times have changed and employers increasingly look for high calibre interim and temporary staff, we’ve adapted to those needs.” With just eight in the office, decisions are made quickly and service is bespoke. This flexibility and responsiveness has won Time Appointments a loyal following of household-name clients, spanning many different industries. Job candidates are equally impressed. Ambitious plans are afoot to relocate Time Appointments to larger town centre premises, although still in a discreet location (much appreciated by candidates!) Expansion across East Anglia and into London is also on the cards. “It’s all about raising the bar in professional recruitment. There’s plenty of scope out there for consultancies who are willing to go the extra mile,” says Craig.

  • Time Appointments expands to offer temporary recruitment

Posted on Wednesday 2nd March, 2011

Time Appointments, established four years ago to specialise in permanent recruitment, has responded to current conditions by setting up a temporary placements division.

Craig Dade, managing director, said, “We’re very keen to meet all our clients’ requirements and their needs are evolving. When we opened in March 2006, circumstances were very different because back then, there were more jobs than applicants. Now clients are looking for different, more flexible, arrangements and temporary appointments, from interim management roles through to general office support are increasing in importance.”

Time Appointments, which has a staff of seven, specialises in white collar jobs in insurance, sales, shipping, and administrative and executive roles.

Mr Dade said, “A temporary appointment can actually be a very beneficial experience. It is often well-paid and can enable candidates to gain additional industry experience and boost their CV. Of course, quite often it will ultimately turn into an offer of permanent employment.”

He reports that whilst there are still good permanent jobs on offer across a wide range of business sectors, temporary placements now account for almost 20% percent of new appointments.

“From clients’ point of view, a temporary appointment doesn’t mean they want to compromise on quality. So our temporary appointments team maintains our high standards in continuing to vet all applicants thoroughly and carry out pre-interviews. That ensures that our clients are presented with candidates who meet their needs, whether that is for temporary or permanent posts,” he said.

Time Appointments is based in Cromwell Court, Ipswich, and meets with candidates on an appointment basis only. The company has ambitious plans to expand across Norfolk and Essex in coming years.

  • Social networking: the dangers of mixing work and pleasure

Posted on Tuesday 1st March, 2011

Facebook has more than 400 million users worldwide, nearly half logging on every day. Twitter has 190 million. In every workplace, there’s likely to be a keen social networker, tweeting or updating regularly, even during the working day.

In the US, 54 percent of businesses block social networking sites completely, with 19 percent allowing it only for business purposes.

The issues surrounding social networking go beyond swallowing up the working day, says Craig Dade of Ipswich-based recruitment consultants, Time Appointments.

According to recent studies, one in ten under 35 year olds has posted derogatory or negative comments about his or her boss or employer on a social networking site.

“Some people might argue that social networking is just the modern day equivalent of standing around the coffee machine or taking a cigarette break,” he said.

“It’s a chance to gossip, to bond, but it is much more than that,” he says. “Because networking is online rather than face to face, the chances are that views – however unsavoury or inappropriate – are recorded for posterity. And their influence goes far beyond idle comment with your mate whilst making the cappuccino.”

He believes it is important to have an office policy on social networking, striking the balance between being practical and not heavy handed. Ideally it should be based on consultation. Should it be banned altogether, possibly causing resentment, or access permitted during work breaks only?

“You can’t demand your staff close their account for good, but you don’t have to put up with leisure activities going on in works time,” he said. “As for those derogatory comments, the law is right behind you.”

There have already been cases of staff disciplined in the workplace. In some cases posting inappropriate comment has led to dismissal.

“Equally contentious is whether an employer should check out potential or existing employees on social networking sites. Where work and social life blur, it can be a difficult. If your employee has invited senior colleagues or even the boss to become an online friend, then it is asking for trouble all round,” he said.

Mr Dade says it’s worth protecting your reputation and that of your employer, and learning the value of discretion.

“Remember, social networking is all about sharing information with others,” he said. “Broadcasting that you are fed up with your employer may mean that you are looking for another job sooner than you intended!”
